            Gambling, gangsters and girls were the driving force of the city of Newport, Kentucky which dominated an era of crime and “sin” that spanned for over four decades from the 1920’s until the late 1960’s. Most vices known to man could be fulfilled within the same block several times and at a wide variety of places. The lawless and corrupt nature of the city, mixed with the uproar caused by the Prohibition Era, were the perfect recipe for organized crime to be born and thrive. Many famous and infamous characters stood out and left their mark in the city. Characters that were directly and indirectly responsible for Newport’s history of illegal casinos, prostitution, corruption and illegal distribution of alcohol.
